Our Esteemed Colleagues,

As the Local Organizing Committee, we are proud and happy to host the 12th annual EADMFR meeting in İstanbul, which will be the cultural capital of Europe in 2010. As Local Organizing Committee, with the support of the Turkish Oral Diagnosis and Maxillofacial Radiology Society, we will make all efforts to ensure this meeting will be successful and also fruitful from scientific and social aspects.

Interest in DentoMaxillofacial Imaging is increasing both in clinical and research areas, and many investigators contribute scientifically to various areas of this field in Turkey. The presence of the 12th EADMFR meeting in İstanbul will increase these contributions and encourage multidisciplinary studies. Moreover, the EADMFR congress will boost our efforts for recognition of DentoMaxillofacial Radiology as a dental specialty in Turkey. In this congress we are aiming to provide new avenues to expand the scientific and educational needs among our countries. Also we are hoping that the congress will extend our collaboration with our industrial partners making our Society the primary site for interaction with DentoMaxillofacial Imaging industry in Europe.

The location of the meeting is very special. İstanbul is a city where two continents meet which means the old and new, Europe and Asia, converge. Located on both sides of the Bosphorus, the narrow strait between the Black Sea and the Marmara Sea, İstanbul straddles both the European and Asian continents. İstanbul is considered to be the best touristic centre of Turkey, combining history, and modern life together. The city is so vibrant with personality, history, hospitality and diversity. June is the ideal time of year for visiting the historical sites, enjoying the Bosphorus, and experiencing unforgettable moments.

Congress venue is Sheraton İstanbul which is situated in the new business district, one can enjoy a great combination of work, refreshment, and relaxation. The hotel is surrounded by multinational corporate office buildings and the leading bank headquarters. The hotel is only 10 kilometers from the city center, five kilometers from the Bosphorus, and 30 kilometers from İstanbul Ataturk International Airport. The underground station is in just in front of the hotel and two big shopping centers, are just 10 minutes from the hotel. The hotel is capable of more than 3,500 square meters of event space. From a group of five to a grand event of 850, the 18 meeting and banquet rooms are the perfect place to bring everyone together. The latest audiovisual and meeting equipment are available in all rooms and will keep the participants connected and ensure the event's success.

The European Academy of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology (EADMFR) was founded at the 9th European Congress on Dento-Maxillo-Facial Radiology in Malmo, Sweden, in 2004 and the İstanbul congress is the third congress within the fellowship of the academy.
